Software Engineer Print Controller (3d Printing)Photocentric Ltd based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and the US is an award-winning manufacturer of 3D printers and resins. With our uniquely different attitude to manufacturing photopolymer and 3D printing, our innovative company is rapidly growing and as a result we are now on the search for a talented Software Engineer to work on our 3D printer control systems, based at our HQ in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.This is an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer with an interest in electro-mechanical hardware seeking a challenging role to work for an innovative rapidly changing company. In return we can offer an excellent salary and career progression.Key Responsibilities of our Software Engineer Print Controller include: - Working in conjunction with the software manager to deliver software solutions for 3D printers covering the bridge between printer controller hardware and software- Developing relationships and working closely with all design engineers, but especially the control systems engineer to understand requirements and provide solutions accordingly- Manage transition from an open sourced legacy system to establish a new stable internal development platform whilst maintaining the legacy system- Define and document the interfaces with hardware for control and monitoring various printer components- Define and build software processes to support printer requirements- Develop automated software updating processes- Work in line with company product design methodology and deliver in line with the full software development cycle (Analysis, Requirements, Design, Implementation, Testing)- Using knowledge of wider technological and business trends (e.g. IoT) contribute to continuous improvement within the Engineering function overall- To develop testing plans and automated testingSkills and Experience required of our Software Engineer Print Controller:- At least 3 years minimum experience in Software Development- Degree in Computer Science/Software Development or similar- Ideally experience in design engineering environment- Good communication skills and the willingness and ability to analyse market, competitors and technologies- Genuine interest in 3d PrintingKnowledge of the following - Raspberry Pi or similar experience- Java development- Linux- Windows 10- Git- IDEs (VSCode/Studio/Eclipse)- HTML /JavaScript/Web UI design- Bonus – experience of RepRap firmware.If you would like to join our growing team and feel that you have the necessary skills and experience to become our Software Engineer Print Controller please click ‘apply’ now!
