Job Description

Do you have sound HPLC and GC experience gained in a production environment along with people management skills, and are looking for a new role I am currently recruiting for a Shift Chromatography Laboratory Chemist to join a service provider to the chemicalsindustry based in Peterborough, on a full time permanent basis. Please note this role is on a shift basis working 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.The Company:Our client is provides services to the chemicals industry and they are now looking for a Chromatography Laboratory Chemist to join their team. This person will report into the Lab Manager. The main purpose of this role will be provide a flexible chemical analysisservice for the company whilst maintaining accurate records for the company and its customers. A salary circa £24,000-£28,000pa is offered (dependent on experience), as well as 28 days holiday including bank holidays, increasing with length of service. Pleasenote some bank holidays are required to be worked and some out of hours working will be required on occasion. Benefits include pension scheme, salary reviews and other benefits. Hands on industrial HPLC and GC experience is essential. Please note this roleis on a shift basis working 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.Location:This role is located in Peterborough, easily commutable from Cambridge, Kings Lynn, Bedford, Northampton, Leicester, Sleaford and surrounding areas. The Role:Your main duties will be to:

  • Perform Laboratory Tasks – ensuring that all samples are analysed in accordance with specifications, procedures and test methods with appropriate documentation and records. Develop and improve methods of analysis and provide solutions to problems requiringanalytical expertise.
  • Attain and maintain complete understanding of all laboratory analysis procedure.
  • Validate methods.
  • Ensure, by analysis, that cross contamination control is maintained. Ensure customer sample requests are analysed and dispatched within agreed time frame.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability – To be flexible on work patterns, including times of breaks and working overtime. To adapt readily to the needs of the business and customers as required.
  • To undergo training as required to improve skills and competence. Keeping informed of policies and procedures relating to the department are role. Progress through personal development plan.
Your Background:The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
  • Experienced in hands-on HPLC and GC analysis gained in an industrial environment -essential
  • Experience in trouble shooting, calibration, method development and validation of HPLC and GC - strongly preferred
  • Ideally degree qualified or equivalent in chemistry or a related discipline
  • ISO9001, GLP and GMP knowledge would be beneficial
