Job Description

Senior Operations ManagerPhotocentric Ltd is a rapidly growing manufacturing company based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and Phoenix, USA. Three times Queens Award winners one for export and twice for innovation, we have invented a patented new method of 3D printingand manufacture our own 3D printers and resins that are exported all over the world. We are now combining these disruptive innovations to mass manufacture parts across a wide variety of industries. Photocentric also manufacturers clear stamps and related productsfor the craft market both in the UK and US.Our need to manufacture increased volumes has created a new role for a Senior Operations Manager. This person will report directly to the Managing Director and become a vital element of our senior management team. As the senior operations manager you must be able to deliver operational excellence, based on sound adherenceto SOPs, improving processes with automation to deliver a successful and lean manufacturing facility. This Senior Operations Manager must be able to make changes that improve the culture of the business to empower our people.Main duties of the Senior Operations Manager

  • Full accountability for leadership and management of all manufacturing functions in the business.
  • Managing all production, warehouse, dispatch, quality and purchasing teams.
  • Delivery of the companys strategic direction.
  • Managing the production teams to deliver the highest quality output, meeting all internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coaching and mentoring managers and supervisors.
  • Responsible for the budget and P&L for the business, our direct labour costs, materials, purchases and waste.
  • Championing the implementation of Oracle throughout the business.
  • Overseeing H&S throughout the business and to promote a culture of safety first.
  • Budget management and cost analysis.
  • Implementing SOPs and generating KPI data to report productivity and efficiency.
  • Delivering Continuous Improvement to the business.
  • Increasing production capacity in line with growth targets.
Skills and experienced required for the Senior Operations Manager:
  • Proven experience in a similar role such as senior operations or manufacturing manager
  • Manufacturing background essential
  • Demonstrate strong team building and people management skills in multi-skilled teams
  • Experienced at improving production processes by coming up with innovative ideas to demonstrate expert continuous improvement skills
  • Commercial mindset with a financial understanding of working to budgets and P&L
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, supply chain management and scheduling
  • Outstanding trouble shooter
  • Knowledge of Oracle or an ERP system would be useful
  • Experienced in Kaizen, 6 Sigma and Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Educated to degree level or business qualification
