Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, External Reporting£90 - 110k basic plus benefits Overview:Senior Manager, External ReportingHybrid Working - 1-2 days per week in Peterborough office / WFHResponsible for owning and managing the statutory and management reporting consolidation process for the Group and any required sub-consolidations.Producing parent and/or consolidated statutory financial statements for the non-operating, group holding companies and regular monthly management reporting outputs for these entities.Supporting the audit process and working with the external auditors to ensure that accounts are filed with the relevant authorities.Managing a team of trainee and qualified accountants to assist and support with the above, whilst at the same time providing an environment for learning and personal development.Responsibilities:

  • Management of external auditors and colleagues to ensure timely and efficient delivery of statutory audit.
  • Managing the consolidation process i.e. overseeing the elimination of intra-Group transactions and balances, eliminating investments in subsidiaries, equity accounting etc
  • Managing going concern workings, assessment of impairment in subs and goodwill
  • Accounting for intangible assets arising on consolidation
  • Owning the accounting for acquisitions, disposals and business transfers
  • Provision of robust accounting technical advice.
  • Preparation of technical accounting position papers (as required) and oversight and challenge of key accounting estimates & judgements.
  • Risk monitoring and reporting for 1st Line of Defence activities.
  • Working with Finance Systems to implement improvements to the ledger and consolidation systems.
  • Ambassador for financial governance across all business activity.
  • Ad hoc project work.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant with at least five years post qualification experience
  • Experience of external reporting involving a complex consolidation process
  • Ability to deliver results while maintaining control and quality in the face of fixed and demanding deadlines
  • Detailed UK GAAP and IFRS knowledge
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in managing a team of finance professionals
