We have a brand new opportunity for an established and successful organisation based in Peterborough.As a Purchase Ledger Clerk for our client, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the efficient operation of the accounts payable function.This position involves the accurate processing of supplier invoices, reconciliation of supplier statements, and adherence to company financial policies and procedures.Key Responsibilities: - Accurately enter and process purchase invoices into the accounting system, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. - Regularly reconcile supplier statements with outstanding invoices and resolve discrepancies promptly. - Assist in the timely and accurate processing of supplier payments, ensuring compliance with agreed credit terms. - Maintain an organized filing system for invoices, purchase orders, and other financial documents, both physically and electronically. - Ensure that proper authorizations and approvals are obtained before processing payments or issuing sundry cheques. - Open and maintain ledger accounts following established procedures, adhering to a high standard of accuracy. - Allocate payments and receipts to ledgers accurately and promptly, minimizing levy fees and errors. - Assist in achieving the monthly close of ledgers within specified timelines. - Obtain missing documentation to reduce payments on account and maintain complete records. - Develop and maintain professional working relationships with suppliers, colleagues, and internal stakeholders.Successful candidates will have:- Previous experience in an accounts payable or purchase ledger- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications. - Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry. - Good organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines. - Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance. - Positive attitude, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining high ethical standards. - Ability to adapt positively to changes. - Professional, calm, and positive demeanour.
