Job Description

This role as Multi Skilled Shift Engineer based in Bolton, will be working a 4 on 4 off rotating day/night shift pattern. Within your role you will provide engineering resource in carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, installation,improvements and modification or upgrade to plant and services in order to minimize downtime and maintain the equipment in the best possible condition.As a Multi Skilled Shift Engineer your responsibilities will include

  • Fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs of plant, packing machines and site services.
  • Planned maintenance (PM), modifications, installations and upgrades to plantmachinery and site services.
  • Upkeep and alteration of electrical and mechanical drawings as needed.
  • To deal directly with suppliers on machine or plant issues.
  • To improve site production processes and plant design to minimize downtime andimprove safety and quality.
  • Repair, refurbishment and modification to pipework and valves including ingredients,pneumatic, water, heating systems, water jackets, toilets and sinks.
  • Maintenance and clearance of site drainage systems including process supply anddischarge lines.
  • Maintenance and repairs to steam pipework, boilers, steam traps and condensates.
  • Installation and commissioning of electrical and mechanical machines and equipment,pneumatic, steam and hot and cold water systems.
  • Replacement and repairs to electrical, fluid metering equipment.
  • Maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to high standards.
The successful Multi Skilled Shift Engineer will have the following skills and experience:
  • Engineering City and Guilds or equivalent.
  • Multi skilled HNC.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical).
  • 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations (Electrical).
  • Demonstrable experience as a skilled craftsperson or technician.
  • Practical experience gained within engineering function.
  • Problem solving and fault diagnosis.
  • Consistent high work standards even when under pressure.
  • A wide-ranging knowledge of industrial and domestic pipefitting with particular emphasis placed on steam.
  • PC literate.
  • To be fully conversant and compliant with site Permit to Work and Isolation procedures.
