Job Description

Peterborough Positive is the citys Business Improvement District (BID).Representing more than 400 businesses and organisations, we are focused on delivering an ambitious business plan to transform the city centre - improving experiences, standards and adding value for all users.Leading on innovative projects and providing key investment, our aim is to make the city centre a cleaner, safer and more welcoming place, raising its profile with events and campaigns.Were looking for a talented, driven, creative and self-motivated marketing communications specialist to join our team to:

  • Strategically position and amplify Peterborough Positive as a proactive Business Improvement District that is delivering a comprehensive business plan to transform the city centre, by improving experiences, standards and adding value for levy-payers, residents,workers and visitors
  • Support the delivery of innovative projects and activities based around business plan objectives that will provide key investment to make the city centre a cleaner, safer and more welcoming place, which in turn will help to raise its profile with new anddiverse events and exciting marketing campaigns
  • Oversee marketing communications with levy-payers, stakeholders and partners
  • Develop and lead the communication strategy
DIGITAL MARKETINGTake ownership for the daily management of our website, ensuring content is up-to-date and factually correct and regularly monitoring performance and statisticsCreate newsletters for our levy-payers and monitor its analyticsSegment audiences into levy payer, stakeholder, partner and media distribution lists and manage accordinglyManage the Customer Relationship Management platform, working with the Business Improvement Manager to ensure the team is using it effectively to allow a true picture of Peterborough Positive activityCapture all Peterborough Positive events on video and by photograph (or commission a third party where required) for use on social media, website, newsletters, reports and for any other required digital and print publicationSOCIAL MEDIABe responsible for the day-to-day management of Peterborough Positives social media accounts, by creating a content planner and monitoring and evaluating performance / statistics on a weekly basis, creating regular reports and using insight to inform futurecontentContinuously assess social media trends and make recommendations for introducing new platforms and channelsMARKETING Lead on conception, planning and implementation of marketing campaignsLead on the creation of collateral by designing in-house (newsletters, fliers, leaflets, posters) or briefing third-party design agencies when required, drafting copy, liaising with media and delivering all project and campaign assetsSupport the Business Improvement Manager with the management of event set up, set down and administrationCreate a photo library, ensuring it is up-to-date with copyright agreements with photographers and consent formsCreate a marketing planning calendar and associated delivery plans that dovetail into the overarching communications strategyDevelop a brief for a third-party design agency to create brand guidelines for Peterborough PositiveLiaise with businesses and partners to ensure effective management of assets, policing use of the brandGENERALSupport the Business Improvement Manager with marketing content for Board reports, working group meetings and presentationsAnalyse insights, market trends and demographics and relevant information to provide added value to marketing tacticsEstablish KPIs for marketing campaigns and provide reports on effectiveness and ROIEnsure GDPR compliance of marketing activity and databasesMonitor and research marketing successes of other BIDs to share best practicesSupport the Business Improvement Manager to ensure joined up campaigns and activities to maximise levy payer benefits and assist with coordination, preparation and communication for events and conferences, attending where requiredBe a brand advocate and ambassador for Peterborough Positive and leading by example in encouraging fellow team membersExperience
  • Marketing qualification or relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of core marketing principles
  • Track record of running campaigns and projects
  • Experience of media relations including building relationships with media, writing press releases and responding to enquiries
  • First class copywriter with ability to write for a variety of audiences
  • Up-to-date knowledge of social media and existing trends including how it can be used to build Peterborough Positives profile
  • Comfortable with using website content management systems
  • Sound experience in managing a CRM and maximising functionality for the benefit of the business
  • Experience in creating dynamic and engaging videos for use on social media and on YouTube
  • Experience using platforms, such as: website content management systems, Mailchimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media scheduling software, Google Analytics and Meta Business Suite
  • Willingness to work out of core hours when evening and weekend events occur
  • Creative, intuitive, innovative and resourceful
  • Enthusiastic, quick to learn and with impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative with confidence along with sound judgement
  • Analytical and numerate
  • Confident written and verbal skills with diplomacy to communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent prioritisation and time management skills with ability to manage competing workload and deadlines
  • Flexiblity to meet demands of a changing environment
DesirableGood knowledge of Peterborough city centre - Minimum three years in a marketing communications role - Experience in B2B and B2C marketing (social, website, events, newsletters, content generation, PR, SEO) including measuring and reporting on performance- Experience in working in a matrix organisation
