Job Description

Circa £29,000Permanent Full time / 37 Hours a week Peterborough OfficeDo you love helping people to use Technology Are you a great at thinking on your feet and troubleshootingAre you new to IT and looking for the next step in your careerIf you answered yes then we have a fantastic opportunity to join our onsite IT support team based in Peterborough.Working in one of our Tech Bars at our key campus sites, in this role you will support your colleagues to make sure they are getting the most out of the technology that is available to them. We are a heavy user of Microsoft 365 so if you have experienceworking with SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams then wed like to hear from you. Many of our people use Samsung Android tablets, so if you also have experience of Android thats a bonus!Our Tech Bars are open during core business hours and provide a welcoming environment that colleagues can visit when they need help. As well as providing support face to face, many of our colleagues work from home or out in the field, so we also providesupport remotely or travel to our sites across the region to support colleagues.Your days will be busy and varied; you could be helping a new starter get up and running, using Active Directory and Azure AD to manage user access, helping a colleague to use a surface hub in one of our meeting rooms or setting up an iPad or VR headsetfor our teams to use.You will work closely with, and be supported by, your immediate team, but you are also part of a larger Service Operations team that includes our service desk and off-shore support teams.Providing great customer service, having a can-do attitude and knowing when you need to ask for help are all key attributes for this role.What will you be doingYou will be providing face to face and support on the phone to colleagues which will include:

  • On the spot training, coaching and education in how to use and fully utilise/exploit devices, systems and applications with a heavy focus on the M365 suite.
  • Using our service management platform; Service Now, to update and manage incidents
  • Responding to requests for support that come into our mailbox
  • Administering device stock levels
  • Demonstrate and role model high standards of customer service
  • Provide support to colleagues using technology in our meeting rooms
  • Provide triage for queries or issues raised, resolving them where you can or escalating to a colleague if you need help.
  • Assisting colleagues with device swap outs and updating our asset management systems as appropriate
  • Using device management tools such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, Samsung Knox and E-Fota
  • Occasionally travelling to other AW sites across our region
  • Building your technical knowledge and understanding
What does it take to be an IT Support Technician
  • Working knowledge of M365 applications such as Onedrive, Sharepoint, Teams etc.
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to learn on the job
  • Confident in speaking to people face to face and on the phone
  • Be a motivated self-starter with a positive outlook
  • A passion for Technology and helping people
  • Great listening skills and the ability to empathise
  • Ability to provide great customer service
  • Understanding how to set and manage the expectations of others
  • Educated to A level or equivalent in Computer Science/ IT related subject
  • Experience of working in a customer service role
  • 1 year Experience in an IT support role (desirable)
  • Experience of creating and maintaining self-help material and delivering training or coaching (Desirable but not essential)
