Job Description

GRP / Fibreglass LaminatorsI am currently looking for a number of GRPLaminators for a contract with one of our fast growing marine clients based in Peterborough.Details:

  • ASAP Start
  • 6 Month Contract
  • £20.00 per hour LTD / Umbrella (Outside of IR35)
  • 44+ per week
Role: GRPLaminator
  • Responsible for setting up moulds including waxing and gelling as well as laminating
  • Preparing moulds tools - inspection of tool, assembly of the tool, waxing of tool ready for gel coating
  • Gel coating - decanting gel coat from containers, adding the correct catalyst ratio following catalyst charts, mixing the gel coat and catalyst together ready to apply to a mould tool.
  • Hand laminating - cutting chop strand mat, technical fabrics, combination mats from a roll following a cutting list for each component, selecting the correct resins for the job in hand, mixing with catalyst, following catalyst ratio charts, saturating themat/fabric with resin and consolidating and removing all the air bubbles from the part, green trimming the part when semi cured.
  • Resin infusion - understanding the principles of resin infusion techniques, tailoring fabrics to patterns and cutting list for infused components, laying the dry materials into the part following specific process instructions and 3D CAD drawings, layingin of the foam reinforcements following 3D CAD drawings, fitting all the resin infusion consumables and vacuum bags prior to the resin infusion process, vacuum the part and resin infuse.
  • GRP component repairs - inspection of the component to identify whats to be repaired, repairing component splits, manufacturing faults, damage that may be incurred during transit, being able to select the appropriate gel coats, adding the correct catalystratios to the gel coat using the catalyst wall charts, using orbital sanders, polishing machines, selecting the correct grades of sanding disc for the job at hand
