Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity within an award winning Public Sector and Government organisation in Peterborough who are able to provide a flexible and family feeling environment with a hugely welcoming team. Working with the Peterborough Finance team the Financial Accountant will be responsible for financial management across the institution alongside detailed budgets and forecasts to guide the strategy decisions of the business.Client DetailsA leading Public Sector and Government business in Peterborough who sport a hugely welcoming team who are responsible for their award winning working environment, full of flexibility and development opportunities. The successful applicant for the Financial Accountant will have the opportunity to help the business grow and develop with a key insight in informing the business decisions.DescriptionThe Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the financial management of the institution
  • Prepare and issue of monthly financial budget monitoring reports and month end close down, working closely and building relationships with the key budget holders
  • Preparation of the final accounts alongside the existing finance team
  • Ensure the accuracy of the revenue and capital accounting transactions.
  • Consistently looking to improve and develop the financial systems and processes
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual revenue budgets and forecasts in accordance with guidelines and timescales.
  • Assist with the development of other members of the finance team.
    • ProfileThe successful candidate for the Financial Accountant will be:
  • Pursuing their ACCA/CIMA/CCAB or qualified by relevant experience
  • Previous experience within a Public Sector and Government institution would be advantageous
  • Comfortable dealing with a wide variety of budget stakeholders
  • Strong user of Excel and further systems
  • An self-starter looking to have an immediate impact
