Job Description

We are recruiting for this role during this challenging time however our client is able to adhere to all policies related to Covid 19 to ensure the well-being of all their employeesWe are recruiting for an experienced Design and Technical Engineer to work in Peterborough this will be a very varied role working as part of an established team in an open plan officeAs the Design and Technical Engineer you will work with the Design and Technical teams as you will be involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation, this team is also responsible for researching the best materials, at the best cost.In terms of design, theres the sheer variety of our sites, many of them using existing buildings, and all of them with unique problems to solve. Then theres the question of new materials and our drive for sustainability and value, all in the face of ever changing building and environmental legislation.Most of the people in this team have an architectural or engineering background, and for all, we offer the opportunity to gain expertise in design and project management in a thought-provoking setting.Reporting to the Technical Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the design of infrastructure and groundworks packages for residential developmentsAs the Design and Technical Engineer you will be expected to:

  • Procure service records and enquiries for new developments, including responsibility for timely payment for new services infrastructure to support build programmes
  • Oversee the design and detailing carried out by externally appointed Consulting Engineers responsible for providing designs for new estate roads and sewers, including Section 38, 104 and S278 Agreements
  • Secure adoption agreements; S38, S104 and S278 to suit the development programme
  • Obtain designs for foundations and where necessary have input into securing structural designs for superstructure components
  • Maintain a continuous process of evaluation of Consultants designs to ensure that proposals adhere to best practice in value Engineering
  • Liaise with other Technical Team members and others as necessary to seek the discharge of building regulations and planning conditions
