Job Description

Job title: BuyerHours: Monday to Friday, hours between 8:30am and 5:30pmSalary: £25k - £30k per annumLocation: PeterboroughOur unique and innovative manufacturing client are looking for an Buyer to join their team. The right candidate will have experience in purchasing, ideally within a manufacturing background, with a good knowledge of Excel.With a global client base, our client are proud to have brought unique, high-quality products to customers in over 32 territories since their inception 25 years ago.Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Drive outsourcing / resourcing projects at pace with a high attention to detail.
  • Identify and work with high quality, highly competitive and capable suppliers to drive competitive edge for the company.
  • Source suppliers on a balanced scorecard approach of Quality, Cost, Innovation and Delivery.
  • Focus on reducing cost/negotiating the best deal whilst improving quality and supply.
  • Evaluate and monitor current supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery & cost. Utilising standard KPIs , to improve supplier performance.
  • Daily ordering of materials / arranging timely delivery based on supply chain demands.
You will be/have:
  • Educated to at least A-level; CIPS advantageous.
  • Experience in related industries (automotive, industrial, Supplier Tier 1) highly desirable.
  • Commodity knowledge of machining and composites advantageous.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to our MRP system; raise POs with minimum of supervision, process engineering changes in a timely fashion and manage new product introduction issues when needed.
  • Fully conversant with MS Office software (e.g. complex Excel spreadsheets)
  • Function well in a high paced demanding environment.
  • Analytical and organised.
