Job Description

Business Assurance Analyst - Agile workingPeterborough with home working£34,584 - £47,361 per annumPermanent, Full TimeThe vacancy:With so much going on, our client needs strong oversight of processes and performance to help them be successful in everything they do. As the Business Assurance Analyst, you will work with teams across the business, providing assurance on their compliance with internal policies, controls and procedures as well as relevant regulations and the accuracy and efficacy of existing assurance sources.You will liaise closely with management as a critical friend’, but ultimately deliver independent assessment, analysis, and assurance regarding the delivery of key services.Your work will help to inform and enhance their overall risk and performance management framework and will help to ensure continuous improvement. Activity will also include reviews of implementation of previously agreed enhancements , recommendations from Internal Audit, Directors and other sources of internal and external best practice. Where specific weaknesses or new opportunities for improvement are identified, you will agree with Management how these can be addressed or avoided.This role will require someone who has strong analytical skills, able to review and challenge results and provide practical recommendations to stakeholders. You are likely to have previous experience of process management, audit, quality assurance, compliance or a similar discipline. You will be an effective communicator and passionate about doing a great job which will help make a difference to our business and our customers.Please note, although this role is home-based you may be expected to work on projects in Peterborough for up to 50% of your working time. Therefore, you will need to live within a reasonable distance to Peterborough.The typical tasks you will undertake:

  • Deliver a cyclical plan of second line reviews of their operational control environments in support of functional management (aligned to CIF reporting schedule).
  • Provide responsive, independent investigations into sample transactions / events / complaints or other risk triggers.
  • Review departmental risk registers and audit management response to internal audits, analyse the current controls environment assessing; the design adequacy and effectiveness of the controls and how these are being actioned and reported in practice
  • Apply end to end testing methodology to provide assurance that locally produced , first line reporting metrics are accurate timely and reported to appropriate stakeholders
  • Document and report on material risks present which are not specifically mitigated by existing controls.
  • Support directorates and teams in completing robust risk assessments for new projects and initiatives to ensure the suitability of current controls and/or that new controls are implemented as part of the project.
  • Develop templated reporting to inform stakeholders of output of reviews and support/ embed understanding of lines of defence model.
  • Requirements
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of process management gained in an assurance or management role
  • Experience of working in a service environment with defined targets/outputs
  • Experience of reporting findings to stakeholders and making improvement recommendations
  • Ability to investigate and articulate exceptions and recommend areas for improvement
  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and follow documented procedures across a range of disciplines
  • Ability to relate policy to desired outcomes
  • Ability to influence at all levels
