Job Description

Circa £65k, salary depending on skills and experienceFull time/37 hrs a week/permanent Location: Thorpe Wood House, Peterborough Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you the flexibility to work from home and from an Anglian Water office. Your base location will be Thorpe Wood House in Peterborough.Make every drop of your potential count. Join our team! We are currently looking for an Audit Manager to join the team. This key role will be reporting directly to the Commercial Assurance Manager, within Anglian Waters Commercial and Delivery Assurance Team, leading on our assurance plan and activities acrossthe entire Capital Investment Programme at a Partner, Alliance and Client level.An aim of the role is to provide independent assurance that our Capital Investment Programme is delivering work in accordance with our obligations and expectations and operating effectively. You will be implementing assurance plans, undertaking assurance/auditsto identify, assess, enhance and develop controls over key risks over the Capital Investment Programme.What youll be doing:

  • Develop and Implement assurance expectations, ensuring they are maintained, updated, and monitored across the Capital Investment Programme.
  • Develop and implement annual assurance plans, across the Capital Investment Programme.
  • Develop and perform appropriate testing strategies to assess the design and effectiveness of key controls, identify control improvements and write succinct reports that effectively communicate the key audit findings and make appropriate recommendations toaddress the control issues identified.
  • Responsible for regular and ad-hoc reporting of assurance activities, with clear identification of non-compliance, risk and recommendations
  • Responsible for providing regular targeted monthly reports in relation to the progress and performance of the Assurance Contracts
  • Identify areas of effective/ineffective and efficient/ inefficient performance and develop a plan that will share this learning or provide support to resolve non-compliance.
  • Work with the various stakeholders to introduce and establish computer based auditing tools and systems to promote smart assurance and develop bespoke assurance tools where required.
  • Instil an environment that positively encourages the integrated teams to make the correct decisions and choices in line with the governance processes, structures and agreements in place that will achieve all requirements of the assurance contracts.
  • Liaison with stakeholders to agree and follow-up on findings/recommendations arising from assurance activities.

What does it take to be successful
  • Experience of working within a fast paced, diverse, matrixed environment
  • Experience of undertaking and concluding audits
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders, internal and external
  • Experience of working in the Water Industry or Utilities sector a distinct advantage
  • Accountancy or audit qualification
  • Educated to degree level or has relevant business experience
  • Commercially focussed
  • Ability to deal with high levels of complexity and ambiguity
  • Logical thinker with strong numeracy skills
