Job Description

Our client is a well-known Peterborough employer who are currently looking for an Assistant Company Secretary to support the Company Secretary.You will need to be a suitably qualified individual who has experience of working and delivering to tight deadlines in a Company Secretarial and office environment.You will be regularly in contact with senior colleagues and will deputise for the Company Secretary at Board meetings when needed.You will be a strong communicator & be comfortable dealing with all levels in a fast-paced environment.You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, know how to influence and persuade, be able to manage a busy and varied workload and demonstrate attention to detail in everything you do.Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Company Secretary to prepare Board and Board sub-committee agendas for approval and to prepare comprehensive and accurate Board and sub-committee packs.
  • Deputise for the Company Secretary at Board or Committee meetings if required.
  • Updating and maintenance of governance information
  • Managing register of business interests.
  • Maintaining schedules of deeds and documents for reporting to the board and contract records.
  • Managing external audit queries relating to legal agreements.
  • Have a clear understanding of the Groups insurance arrangements
  • Assist with managing data security breaches, subject access requests and freedom of information requests as required.
About You
  • An education to degree standard, or equivalent.
  • Law degree or working towards approved Company Secretarial Qualification would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working and delivering to tight regulatory deadlines in a Company Secretarial and office environment.
  • Knowledge of data protection law and experience of handling data protection impact assessments, subject access requests and data security breaches would be an advantage.
  • Comprehensive administrative skills, including minute taking.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills to include advising on technical legal and company secretarial matters.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Confident telephone manner and ability to deal with people, at all levels, with tact and diplomacy.
  • Highly developed organisational skills. Ability to prioritise, multi-task and proactively manage own workload whilst working to demanding deadlines.
  • Judgement and decision-making ability.
  • High levels of confidentiality and discretion given the highly sensitive nature of the role.
