Job Description

Applications DeveloperSalary: £37,000 - £46,000 per annumLocation: United Kingdom - Hybrid (Peterborough) or fully remote (with occasional travel to Peterborough)Closing date: 26 October 2022The VacancyCentral Office staff work closely with schools, offering a wealth of expertise to underpin schools own knowledge. Our specialist departments, including HR, finance, technology, strategy and performance, estates, and marketing, work alongside dedicated schoolimprovement teams. By joining us, you will provide ongoing support to schools, ultimately improving the outcomes of our pupils.The roleWorking alongside a team of software developers, youll be developing software applications primarily using browser-based applications written in C# with ASP.Net MVC.This is an exciting and fulfilling role working on a wide variety of projects, with software targeted at central office and schools within the Group.Required skills (you will be expected to have some exposure to these):

  • C# (would consider similar language, such as Java, if willing to retrain to C#).
  • ASP.NET MVC (would consider similar web platform, such as Spring, if willing to retrain to ASP.NET).
  • Microsoft SQL Server (would consider similar RDMS, such as Oracle, if willing to retrain to MS SQL).
  • HTML.
  • JavaScript.
  • CSS.
Desirable skills (there will be opportunities to train in any or all of these, but you wont be expected to learn them all):
  • Net Core and later.
  • CI/CD (continuous integration/ continuous delivery).
  • Front-end libraries such as React, Blazor or AngularJS.
  • TypeScript.
  • Linq.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with staff at central office and schools to understand requirements for new and existing applications.
  • Develop new software applications and add features to existing applications.
  • Test own and others work, both manually and with the creation of automated unit/integration tests.
  • Provide third-line support to end users.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and new and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain documentation of applications and processes.
  • Engage in professional development to broaden skillset.
