Job Description

Accountable to: Home ManagerSalary: £8.90 - £9.05 Per HourThis is a permanent position in a Nursing Home setting run by family since 1984 providing residential, nursing and residential care to older people in Peterborough only to ensure that quality and management is maintained to the highest quality of care.Our clients are a high-quality 35 bed Nursing Home providing a luxury and welcoming environment set in the beautiful area of Peterborough.The dedicated and compassionate care teams and nurses provide 24-hour onsite, residential, nursing and dementia care in intimate and modern surroundings. The staff pride themselves on the warmth and support they provide to their residents and their families. They promote independence, dignity and quality of life at all times in a person centred caring and supportive environment.Responsibilities:

  • To organise all social activities / diversional therapy within the Home, considering residents particular likes and dislikes as appropriate.
  • To incorporate New Residents into the activities programmes within the Home through the ‘My Life’ Care Plan document
  • To liaise with Care Staff regarding the care of residents and particular activities that may be beneficial and stimulating.
  • To liaise with Care Staff regarding special individual requirements, such as the celebration of birthdays and anniversaries.
  • To liaise with Care Staff regarding special cultural and religious festivals and celebrations, and to be aware of the religious calendars that may affect activity pursuits, relevant to the ethnic mix of the residents.
  • To organise, and be involved in, activities that involve community visits outside the Home. To co-ordinate the availability of transport for residents for such visits.
  • To plan activities to a set timetable, this takes in to consideration participation of every resident within the Home and to ensure that these are communicated to residents and staff alike.
  • To plan daily activities that includes at least one main group activity and one to one sessions.
  • To be responsible for distribution of library books throughout the Home, and to liaise with appropriate library organisations.
  • To ensure the provision of specialist media for residents with special needs (news tapes, book tapes, large-letter books and Braille, as required)
  • To communicate and liaise with relatives and friends of residents as needed.
  • To assist care staff during mealtimes by assisting resident to eat in order to promote protected mealtimes
  • To liaise with Care Staff to ensure that activities are documented on appropriate Care Plans and in Care Plan records.
  • To set up and maintain a Residents Comfort fund which includes keeping accurate records of all financial transactions
  • To organize social events throughout the year to raise funds for the Residents Comfort Fund.
  • To assist the Directors and Home Managers in reviewing the Activities Plan every three months
  • To make records of all activities conducted including, which residents have participated.
  • To undertake and assist in other duties, as may be necessary from time to time including self – development
