Job Description

About The RoleIn line with ambitious growth plans, our Civil Engineering Client who specialise in the Highways require an Accountant to oversee Peterborough and Huntingdon offices, involving occasional travel to both sites. The successful applicant will be supportingthe Senior Accountant at the contract and the Finance Business Partner for the East Region in providing financial support, advice and governance.Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and supporting the contract Finance team, as well as the Commercial and Operational teams.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate review of monthly financial information.
  • Assisting the preparation and coordination of the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting cycle. Reviewing of reporting packs for submission to leadership team.
  • Reviewing and challenging financial performance against forecasts and provide variance analysis.
  • Identifying and driving improvements in processes and systems to add value and seek efficiencies, identifying and mitigating risk.
  • Responsibility of the contract balance sheet, timely balance sheet reconciliations and review with Finance Leadership team.
  • Weekly update of expected Cash Position.
  • Supporting the interim and year-end audit process.
  • Providing year end statutory information to Central Finance.
Essential Skills:
  • Qualified Financial Accountant with at least a minimum of 3- 4 years post qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Initiative-taking, robust, and a resourceful finance professional.
  • Remain focused in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to build relationships on a cross-functional basis within the sector and business.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Advance Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and Highways Costing Programs advantageous.
