Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a number of Court Assistant for our public sector client based in Paisley. This is a temporary role. Rate of pay is £10.43 per hour for a 37 hour week, Monday to Friday.Please only apply if you have a valid Disclosure certificate dated within the last 12 months. If successful for the post, you will also have to apply for a Standard Disclosure clearance.Duties:

  • To act as Court Officer for criminal and civil courts
  • To deliver papers to the Sheriff and JP
  • To ensure 2 X ID court sheets are placed in the court
  • To ensure that court is prepped by ensuring that water is available, printers have paper
  • When on summary trial/sheriff and jury duties, ensure that all witnesses are checked in and witness list updated appropriately
  • To ensure that all productions are available in court for each case
  • To ensure that you are familiar with the workings of the unit stands within each courts
  • To check before the start of the court, with the clerk of court, if there are any vulnerable witness equipment required to be available in court
  • To update witnesses on court proceedings and progress of court
  • To ensure that proper decorum is maintained within the court building at all times
  • To ensure at the end of each day that all confidential material within your court is disposed of in the confidential waste bags
  • To update appropriate reading material, literature and information booklets within the witness rooms, ensuring that reading material within the witness rooms are not over 6 months
  • To update Sheriffs reference books such as Parliament House books and Renton and Brown
  • To report to Criminal Office Manager when court is finished
  • To assist with any other duties required by line manager or criminal office manager
  • To be familiar with emergency evacuation procedures
  • Report accidents or potential risks to accommodation manager
  • To deal with complaints at first point of contact, where possible
  • To act as Jury minder when required to do so
  • Act as a fire warden
