Following a planned reconfiguration of services to develop a combined North and Clyde Urology team there is an opportunity to appoint two suitably trained individuals to provide both an emergency and elective Urological service at consultant level. The elective sessions relating to the posts will be delivered within a Hub and Spoke model.The emergency component of the post will be delivered across the North and Clyde Sector through an integrated consultant rota.The successful applicants will join an extensive team of 12 Substantive Consultant Urologists in providing comprehensive urological care to the population of North Glasgow and Clyde, Argyll and the Islands.This is an exciting opportunity to join a new innovative urological team and the development of a sub-speciality interest would be encouraged. The Consultant team cover a range of specialist Urology care including upper tract renal surgery and endourology, female and functional reconstructive surgery, regional penile cancer and andrology service, bladder cancer, as well as providing urological support for the regional sarcoma and complex pelvic surgery.In addition to providing clinical services, the successful candidate will be fully included in the training and assessment of junior staff and will undertake the administrative duties required in a consultant job.The combined North / Clyde Urology service has an infrastructure of inpatient theatres, designated Urology Wards/ Dept., a bespoke diagnostic area for the provision of TRUS and Cystoscopy, and access to Day surgery theatres and Clinics across both sectors. In addition there is an onsite lithotripter at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
