You will be joining us at an exciting time in this new role developed through the Councils transformation programme. As a senior leader within our Economy and Development Team in the Chief Executives Service, you will lead our Development Management, Building Standards, Planning Policy and Housing Strategy teams and help them to support evolving places and communities. Together, youll provide a high-quality service and deliver sustainable development plans through fit-for-purpose processes and procedures. And, by working closely with stakeholders, youll see that all activities fit with our broader objectives. Youll also strive to make the Planning function the best that it can be by supporting and mentoring colleagues so theyre equipped to make effective decisions. Meanwhile, youll be encouraging collaboration across the Council organisation and shaping a business-minded function that applies innovative practice in conjunction with stakeholders and communities.We want you to be our lead officer for Planning, providing expert advice at the highest levels; to elected members, to businesses, to communities and to colleagues at city region and national forums. You must therefore be a capable individual with the confidence and experience to give support and guidance.
