Job Title Solicitor - Housing DisrepairLocation HybridOldburyWorking Hours 37 perweekAre you an experienced solicitor with a passion for housing law and helping people in need If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our client’s dedicated team as a Solicitor in Housing Disrepair.HancoxRead Recruitment are looking to recruit a Solicitor to join our client’s existing Legal litigation team to provide accurate, comprehensive, and proactive legal advice to internal clients within the legal specialism of housing disrepairdecisions and case work.As a Solicitor in Housing Disrepair, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of housing disrepair claims, representing clients who have suffered from various issues affecting their living conditions, including damp, mould, electrical faults, andmore. You will be expected to efficiently handle all aspects of the cases, from initial consultation to negotiation and settlement, while always ensuring the best possible outcome for our clients.Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process cases and legal documents in the area of disrepair for Housing and litigation.
  • Carry a caseload and work with minimal or no supervision.
  • Personally, manage complex casework and legal projects in Housing and litigation law.
  • Assist with the setting up of internal processes and deliver training to internal client department.
  • Provide responsive advice on the management of risk on legal issues.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including local authorities and housing associations, to gather information and negotiate settlements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Keep up to date with changes in housing legislation and case law to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • To represent the Council and other clients in the magistrate’s court, county court or crown court, administrative court and high court as and when required.
  • Instructing Counsel and the Principal Advocate to act or appear on behalf of the Council in circumstances where the best interests of the Council so require.
QualificationsExperience
  • Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive. Must possess current practising certificate which is free of conditions.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of practical legal work of which 2 years must have been gained in the relevant specialism.
  • The successful candidate will gain considerable exposure to a varied workload with a high level of responsibility and extensive client contact.
