Job Description

Project manager With the changes in legislation coming into effect we are recruiting a Project Manager for an exciting new role based in a housing department. The successful candidate will be managing a wide range of large-scale regeneration and improvement projects thatwill improve the quality of homes.   • Fluent in English
  • Able to demonstrate extensive experience of managing projects with values between £5m and £50m
  • Qualified to Degree level in a relevant subject
  • Practitioner Level 2 Prince 2 qualification or other equivalent project management qualification
  • Understanding of project management techniques and applications
  • Experience in managing teams
  • Experience in overseeing project governance structures
  • Experience of working with partners and stakeholders
  • Detailed understanding of project delivery particularly around risk and budgets
  • Available to attend evening and weekend meetings as necessary
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with others and confidently deal with a wide range of individual and organisations
  • Ability to influence at all levels and persuasively gain support on key issues
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and come to balanced decisions
Details of Project Manager:
  • Pay rate: £50k per annum pro rata
  • Start Date: Immediately
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Location: Oldbury
  • Duration: Contract
Role of Project Manager:
  • To undertake regular and consistent progress monitoring of project plans including identifying potential issues and providing solutions to any problems arising which could impact on project delivery in a proactive manner to enable the project to achieveits outcomes / objectives.
  • To ensure that individual project plans are developed in conjunction with partners (both internal and external to the organisation) and that they align to the programme requirements particularly in relation to phasing of projects and meeting key deadlinesto ensure projects of varying complexity (in terms of length of project and project costs) are delivered on time and to budget.
  • To produce and present accurate, detailed and complex reports, articles and briefings both verbally and in writing on matters relating to the projects.
  • To ensure through regular discussions, influencing, and negotiation with project leads (internal and external to the organisation) that project plans are delivered and that all risks to the council are minimised.
  • To ensure that robust stakeholder management plans are in place for all projects and are delivered effectively.
  • To have line management responsibility for Programme Support Officers as appropriate to individual projects.
  • To oversee procurement of and effective management of contractor input into the projects.
  • To identify and implement appropriate resources and systems to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of the projects and to ensure achievement of project benefits.
  • To ensure that knowledge acquired during project delivery is retained and lessons learnt are put in place for subsequent projects.
  • To take overall budget responsibility for capital budgets related to project delivery - between £10m to £50m but project value may vary.
  • To take responsibility for the design and implementation of appropriate governance arrangements for the project including the decision-making and accountability requirements of relevant Project Boards.
  • To ensure that risk management strategies are implemented, including the development of risk management strategies to mitigate risks and creation / regularly monitoring risk registers.
