Job Description

Trials Officer - R & D Department - Oakham Near Stamford, LincolnshireSalary £25,000 - £28,000Full-time, PermanentThe Company Our client a successful farm management organisation formed over 40 years is retained by landowners, tenants, working farmers and institutional investors, manages and advises on farms throughout Europe. They manages and funds rural businesses in order to provide the best financial result and management of assets, consistent with the clients objectives.Role Trials Officer will be joining the R&D Department to work on research projects and agricultural field trials relating to all aspects of crop research.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Trials Manager your main responsibility will be in-field trial operations which includes:

  • Securing field trials sites
  • Preparing and applying inputs in the field
  • Monitoring the effects of experiments through detailed assessments
  • Inputting data into ARM
  • Analysis of the results and report writing
    • There is also an opportunity to become involved in protocol design and results dissemination to the Velcourt Technical team.Essential Skills and Experience
  • At least one year’s work experience in field trials work
  • Graduate/HND in Agriculture/Plant Science/Biology or similar
  • PA1 and PA6 qualifications are necessary
  • Full driving licence essential
  • Computer literate (Excel and other MSOffice software) as well as trials specific software e.g. ARM.
  • Farming and arable crop growing experience/knowledge is helpful
  • Ability to work to stringent technical and quality guidelines
  • BASIS qualification would be helpful but not compulsory
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Strong written and communication skills
