The Role: As a Maintenance Surveyor you will be working in a fast-paced retail environment, your role will be to assist our Building Maintenance team with the effective operational management of a portfolio of 800 retail stores across the UK and Ireland.The is a field based role and will cover developing and implementing building maintenance standards and supporting the building maintenance strategy, conducting building surveys and managing related projects across our estate, predominately covering theNorth of the UK (essential from Stoke north potentially taking in North Wales). There will also be a requirement for occasional visits to our Head Office in Nuneaton (CV11 7RH) as well as the ROI.Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Senior Maintenance Surveyor and the facilities Manager in developing detailed building maintenance best practices.
• Help support the building fabric design in relation to how building works are specified and subsequent monitoring of those designs and solutions.
• Provide information to the business that allows the estate to be managed strategically.

• Ensure the Property Database is updated regularly with all pertinent and accurate records relating to the activities undertaken.
• Assessment and authorisation of all financial related matters within the control of the Maintenance Surveyor.
• Carry out building related surveys and provide reports to support the FM team in both planned & reactive works.
• Conduct and coordinate actions from surveys across the estate, preparing specifications for remedial works.

The Person: The ideal candidate will have experience working within a property environment (preferably retail but not essential) and be familiar with property inspections and reporting. They need to understand the principles of design including statutory requirements(CDM/Asbestos/Building Regulations) and have experience of contractor management (reviews/budgets/quotes/contracts). Ultimately, we require someone who is enthusiastic, works closely as a team player and is good at managing their time and using their own initiativein order to assist in the effective management of our portfolio of stores.Essential:

• Surveying and Project Management ability and a good understanding of how a facilities team works and functions.
• Professional within the facilities environment. Needs to be able to evidence working at pace, achieving high standards of work and good cost control.
• Experience in reactive and planned maintenance work including property surveys & risk assessments.

Desirable:

• Understanding of CAFM systems and database management/
• Accredited Building Surveying or Facilities Management Course and/or degree.
• Experience in management of, design and construction work.
