Job Description

Job Title:Infrastructure (Storage / SAN) Engineer We are transitioning from an Oracle based organization and need your help to convert the current storage and back up solutions into AWS and Azure based instances, as well as perform general infrastructure management activities. We are therefore looking for an experienced “hands on” infrastructure engineer with a strong storage background who will be responsible for managing our storage solutions, ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance; as well as support our infrastructure.A collaborative, communicative approach to working with colleagues from both the development team and operational teams is essential. The role will work within the Infrastructure & Operations department, providing technical infrastructure and storage support to further the aims and objectives of the IT department.This position would suit a Storage System Administrator who has familiarity with the cloud and is looking to develop their skill set within both cloud and automation. The successful person will possess the following infrastructure skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years experience in a similar, senior technical role within an MSP environment, Office 365/ExO/Onedrive/Teams/Yammer/EUC devices.
  • Experience with designing / developing / integrating systems with significant IT infrastructure technologies (networking, telecommunications, computing, storage, virtualisation)
  • Network configuration and troubleshooting: WAN, LAN and WLAN
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of enterprise grade wireless solutions
  • Enterprise grade firewall configuration and troubleshooting
  • VMWare/Hyper-V configuration and troubleshooting
  • Migrating Active directory
    • In addition, as the Storage and Backup Administrator your responsibilities will include working independently and completing work on major, complex projects, coordinating with both technical and non-technical staff and vendors on their implementation:
  • Strong understanding of server backup and recovery methodologies, assisting in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future storage needs.
  • Experience of managing multiprotocol NetApp Storage Systems and VMware vCenter Server environments.
  • Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems on both physical and virtual infrastructure platforms.
  • Recommend, implement and document corrective solutions and preventative measures.
  • Monitor performance metrics within the Data Protection and Storage environment such as disk I/O utilization, bandwidth utilization, processors, port utilization.
  • Provide Tier 2 support and guidance to IT for all Health System and affiliate entities.
  • Document work in the form of policies, standards and knowledge base articles.
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise NAS and archive storage systems, and a working knowledge of NetApp Data ONTAP FAS/AFF storage systems, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and Unix/Linux Operating systems
  • Experienced at SAN and NAS storage monitoring and health reporting
  • Manage 3rd party infrastructure support vendors
  • Experience of iSCSI protocol etc
    • The PersonThe Infrastructure Engineer / Storage Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of our infrastructure and the associated storage solutions:
  • Support with the design, implementation and operation of key internal projects relating to strategic automation of critical IT storage services and functions.
  • Work as a team with other members of the Tier 2 Service Desk support team to resolve client issues and take full ownership of Service Desk tickets that are escalated to you through to their completion.
  • Ability to support diverse technical teams including provision of relevant technical documentation
  • Strong customer focus, business acumen, and results orientation
  • Proven self-starter demonstrated through related work experience
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework
    • The Ideal Candidate:As well as being technically minded with an aptitude for problem-solving, is able to work on their own initiative and is confident delivering to tight deadlines. Good organisational and communication skills are essential
