Diverse Academies Trust in Nottinghamshire up to three non-executive directors/trustees possessing financial management, corporate/charity governance, strategic leadership, education leadership, legal, change management or HR skills, to join its board.Board meetings are held at Retford, Nottinghamshire when safe to do so.The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improvethe life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.The opportunityDiverse Academies Trust has fourteen schools in total, including six primary and six secondary academies together with two special schools which are spreadacross Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. The board seeks to recruit up to three trustees/non-executive directors who together will have arrange of skills to support and add capacity to the current broad skillset of the board. Ideally new trustees will haveskills in one or more of: financial management, corporate/charity governance, strategic leadership, education leadership, legal, change management or HR. Board meetings are held at Retford, Nottinghamshire when safe to do so, but will be conducted remotelyfor the immediate future.The board seeks three senior leaders with board level experience inhuman resources orlegal/compliance orfinance at CFO level (with accountancy qualifications) orchange management orcorporate governance orstrategic leadership oreducationleadershipAs a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months:To improve the clarity and alignment of the trust vision, ethos, and strategic direction so as to improve the consistency and qualityin the educational provision;To improve outcomes for all pupils so they achieve their full potential by developing leadership alongside an aspirational curriculum that allows flexible implementation using the best online technologies;To develop greater financialflexibility and agility in order to be able to respond to changing improvement needs and to adjust to future cost pressures;To develop a greater understanding of all stakeholder and wider community views in order to help shape and improve schools within thetrust.Whats involvedBoard governance in education is a strategic, eyes on, hands off commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours time per month.You will be responsible for:Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos andstrategic directionHolding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; andOverseeing the financial performance of the organisation and makingsure its money is well spentAs an Academy Ambassador, you will join our ambassador network which provides resources, guidance, networking events and webinars to support you in your role.All roles are pro bono.People from diverse backgrounds are encouragedto apply.What next Please register your interest now to be considered for the role.
