Job Description

Job Title: Managing Quantity SurveyorJob Type: PermanentLocation: Annesley, NottinghamshireCompensation: up to £60,000 + Car / allowance (£5,500)Role ID: SF41966Our Client, Morrison Energy Services (A part of MGroup Services) delivers a range of essential infrastructure services within the energy electricity and gas, transport, telecommunications and water sectors in the UK Ireland. We are currently looking fora Managing Quantity Surveyor to join us at this exciting time.This role will focus on a number of major contracts in the Power sector for an industry leading client baseThe role: As a Managing QS, you will play a key role in the successful and profitable delivery of major contracts in the Power / Utilities sectors. You will take the lead on managing the commercials and subcontractor agreements on major projects, often run on bespokeframework agreements with major utilities clients.Key duties will include:

  • Compile relevant information for preparation of reports and claims to agreed timescales.
  • Assist with the ongoing implementation of the commercial application in respect of site personnel at all time whilst developing lasting relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers.
  • Constantly refer to the project risk management plan for thorough, accurate, high-level risk assessment. Monitor the register and any related documentation in accordance with the plan.
  • Responsible for all sub-contractor management. Ensure all sub-contractors and suppliers have submitted compliant quotations/enquiries/applications within the timescale required, and produce all documentation to select and secure services as well as monthlyassessments, variations/CE claims and final account agreements through coaching of the Quantity Surveyor
  • Actively increase knowledge of commercial issues and contract law with a view to managing compensation events/variations/claims.
  • Actively suggest and develop processes for increased accuracy and efficiency minimising time journal and reconciliation tasks.
  • Liaison with the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyor(s) to ensure appropriate commercial cover is maintained.
  • Assist the team and Project Manager, Engineers and Planners with regard to recovery of contract costs together with enhancing project profit by identifying variations, delays and claims.
  • Assist with production of monthly project financial and forecast to complete reports for analysis with Finance staff and Commercial Staff.
  • Help produce a site commercial manual and documents to record variations.
Experience required:
  • Previous experience in a similar Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor role - essential
  • Experience in the Power / Utilities sector is highly sought after, but wider Civil Engineering sector experience will also be considered
  • You will be degree qualified in relevant Quantity Surveying discipline
  • Excellent contract law experience (NEC4 knowledge highly desirable, but not essential)
