Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work for a globally leading company.Client DetailsMichael page are working exclusively with the British Geological Survey (BGS) who is an applied geoscience research centre that is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and is affiliated to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). It is a worldleading geological survey whose core mission is to inform government of science related to the subsurface and to undertake applied research to solve earth and environmental issues, both in the UK and globally.DescriptionThe successful candidate will be required to assist with the management of operations, maintenance and repairs in order to deliver a safe, cost effective and timely service and this will include reactive maintenance. Other key responsibilities and dutiesinclude:Roles and responsibilities:

  • To organise and manage the asset management systems in CAFM and in the BGS Estates IMS.
  • To work with the BGS Health & Safety Team to review and implement effective processes related to the different compliance systems.
  • To organise and manage the CAFM system (including monitoring all planned maintenance and any reactive works)
  • To act as Assistant to the Hard Services Manager with managing the administration team and staff
  • To deputise and manage the hard services in the absence of the Hard Services Manager
  • Control of contractors, including inductions, risk assessments and supervision of works.
  • Examining contractor reports and creating work orders for any defects outlined, then filing appropriately and updating databases or spreadsheets, along with monitoring service providers to ensure reports are received in a timely manner
  • Writing Procedures, Risk Assessments and Training Notes
ProfileYou should be educated to a good standard (particularly English and Maths) and ideally, you will possess a qualification in Facilities Management.You must have substantial experience of working in an FM environment using Building Management Systems (BMS) and experience of using contractor databases in order to interpret information.
  • Experience of contract, budget and staff management (S&I)
  • Experience in using contractor databases and being able to interpret information (S)
  • Experience of using Building Management Systems (BMS), in particular Trend 963 (S)
  • Knowledge of the purpose and working of refrigeration and air conditioning systems as well as heating, ventilation, mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of the Health & Safety requirements in an FM environment
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance, asset management, alarm systems, pressure systems, L8, pest control and LEV (S&I)
  • Good hard services technical understanding e.g. building services (S&I)
