Job Description

Depot Business Manager required for recycling plant in East Midlands area.Our client is part of a global recycling and manufucturing group serving the food and paper packaging industry.Reporting to the recycling Managing Director, the Business Depot Manager, candidates should have an operational background, but have a strong commercial understanding of running a recycling plant.Overall Purpose of the Role:

  • To take responsibility for the safe running of the depot
  • Manager to all employees in the Depot including both commercial and operations
  • Setting the vision and strategy for the depot
  • Driving profitability / EBITDA
  • Responsible for location Health and safety in conjunction with H&S
  • Responsible for local compliance with all statutory requirements
  • Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all purchases of raw materials of the depot
  • Responsible for the sales of material from the depot. Although ultimately responsible for the sales of materials from the depot, there will be a pre-agreed budgeted level of supply volume into customer sites
  • Responsible for driving volumes and spread, targets to be agreed annually
  • Drive H&S performance
  • Ensure compliance programme is maintained
  • Propose and manage capex programme
  • Produce monthly KPIs for depot
  • Identifying areas where we can improve efficiency / commercials for our own vehicles i.e. payload analysis / vehicle optimisation
  • That transport for the incoming purchases and outgoing sales loads are planned and booked to ensure maximum efficiency and safe flow of site traffic without causing unnecessary cancellation or demurrage charges
  • Defect reporting is managed and that a preventative maintenance programme is carried out in a timely and efficient manner and cost
  • Dealing with enquiries / issues in line with all Company procedures, liaising with other departments to resolve as appropriate. Accurate month end reporting and the required KPIs are accurately recorded and submitted on time
  • Resources are fully utilised and are at their most effective
Personal Specification
  • Positive, proactive approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commercial and operational experience
  • Experience within paper / recycling sector desirable
  • Willingness to challenge processes and offer new ideas
  • Promote a positive general culture and health and safety culture and awareness of Site Rules with visitors and colleagues
