Job Description

Role responsibilitiesMain Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a robust credit management department that adheres to set procedures on overdue debt
  • Determine the criteria and setting of credit limits for new and existing customers
  • Improving the profile and importance of credit management within the business
  • Reporting aged debt to business units and keeping stakeholders briefed on potential issues
  • Managing internal stakeholders when credit issues arise
  • Managing multiple sales ledgers inherited from acquisitions, ensuring up to date cash allocation and clean ledgers
  • Ensure the team maintain up to date contact information
  • Work closely with the disputes team to keep the number of disputed items to a minimum
  • Continual monitoring of customers to identify potential credit risks
  • Overseeing the implementation of payment plans where necessary
  • Managing legal action where appropriate
  • Recommending suitable bad debt provision to Financial Controller
  • Develop a High Performing team
  • Setting clear objectives and undertaking regular review and appraisals
  • Manage performance and workload of direct reports
  • Monitor and ensure performance is in line with stakeholder expectations
  • As the business grows, ensure team and structure develops to meet requirements of business
  • ExperienceExtensive and proven credit management experience in a large sales ledger environmentReviewing customer credit worthiness and setting of customer credit limits and termsAbility to work under pressure at key times of the yearHands on experience of multiple sales ledger systemsSkills, Knowledge & QualificationsCICM qualifiedStrong leadership skills to drive the team forward, develop and motivateLegal procedures for debt collectionAbility and conviction to deal with issues and disputes in a professional mannerExcellent communication and interpersonal skills including both written and oral to internal and external stakeholdersProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook Required skills
