Job Description

The RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Company Surveyor to join our team at British Gypsum, based in Loughborough. To manage and control the surveying function of British Gypsum to deliver a compliant and comprehensive surveying service to the Company mines, quarries and manufacturing plants.Hours: Full-Time 36.25 hours per week. Travel required to carry out duties and attend mines and quarries in the UKKey Responsibilities

  • Ensure that survey operations are carried out in accordance with Company standards and best practice.
  • Ensure all required statutory notifications under the applicable legislation are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitor and report the mines SPI data and manage the non-conformance system for SPIs.
  • Ensures departmental Risk Assessments are completed & reviewed.
  • Statutory responsibility to ensure that the plans, sections and working papers of the mine are suitable, complete and accurate.
  • Regularly assess and measure stocks and provide statements for accounting purposes.
  • Carry out subsidence surveys and maintain subsidence database.
  • Seek out opportunities to improve the way surveying tasks are carried out.
  • Implement strategies and proposals for mine working based upon internal discussions and regular mine reviews.
  • Ensure all mines are furnished with a 5 year development plan.
  • Promotion of a positive and inclusive people culture.
  • Succession planning for survey team to support statutory structure.
  • Ensure a robust training programme is in place to meet short and medium term needs.
  • Provide coaching support and mentoring facilities for graduate trainees.
  • What we are looking for in a Company Surveyor
  • HND in mineral or mine surveying or equivalent (minimum).
  • Degree in mineral or mine surveying (preferred).
  • Member of appropriate professional body (RICS)
  • Chartered Surveyor (preferred).
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
  • Five years post graduate experience in minerals surveying or a closely related discipline.
  • Competence in using surveying instruments i.e. Total stations, GPS, LiDAR scanners, UAVs.
  • Competence in CAD applications.
  • Experience working in underground surveying (preferred).
  • Innovate, deploy and develop new technologies or processes
  • Lead & Motivate their team to continuously build trust and improve performance
  • Accurately work with data to provide clear and logical outputs.
  • Confidently pitch new ideas to achieve buy-in from all parties.
  • Self-motivate
  • Prioritise the health and safety of him/herself and colleagues at all times.
  • Excellent technical surveying skills & knowledge
  • Safety Management experience
  • Knows how to apply the above in an underground environment
  • CAD package expertise
  • Organised and logical approach to build processes and procedures
