Job Description

Macildowie are delighted to be working in partnership with a local authority in Nottinghamshire to recruit an Accountant on a permanent basis.This challenging and varied position will see you lead a small team and ensure the provision of high quality financial support to the corporate directorate. Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the production of the annual financialaccounts and budgets whilst contributing to the formulation of the annual strategic plan.Your key duties will include

  • To assist in the production of the Councils detailed four year budgets, as directed by the Financial Services Manager
  • To undertake final accounts year-end process and produce information for inclusion within the Councils annual Statement of Accounts
  • To compile and retain high quality supporting documentation and working papers to meet the statutory requirements in respect of the Councils budget and annual Statement of Accounts
  • To assist the Financial Services Manager in respect of the annual external audit of the Councils Statement of Accounts
  • To complete reconciliations, financial returns and grant claims on behalf of the Council, assigned to the role
  • To develop the Financial Management System in conjunction with the Financial Services Manager and Financial Information Systems Manager, and develop and produce reports within the system to support the effective and efficient processes of the Section
  • Supervise, develop and mentor a small team
