The Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large, busy teaching hospital supporting a wide range of clinical specialties including trauma, spinal, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, maternity and oncology.The Haematology and Blood Transfusion team within the Clinical Pathology department is actively looking for HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who are good team players and have a passion for their work.Specialist knowledge within Red cell, Haemostasis/Thrombosis or Antenatal serology will be a strong advantage to interested candidates. However, training within the IBMS approved status of the laboratory will be provided to candidates who feel they do not meet all the requirements.The Nottingham hospitals currently use WinPath IT system and utilise Sysmex analysers in haematology and coagulation and BioRad IH1000 analysers in transfusion as well as the quality management system Qpulse. The haematology laboratory processes over 1 million requests per annum and the transfusion department processes >120,000 groups and transfuses approximately 35,000 red cell units per year. As per all acute Trusts the department runs a 24hr service with a renumeration in line with A4C term and conditions, rotation at both Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital is required. Training within the department is provided from undergraduate to SpR level and you will be actively encouraged to participate in this program.
