Job Description

A Service Engineering Supervisor is needed by a busy Engineering company in NottinghamThis a hands-on role Supervising a team of fitters carrying out the maintenance and repair of rail freight wagons and associated. Supervisory responsibilities will include: -

  • Lead and direct a team of skilled operatives undertaking preventive and reactive maintenance of Rail equipment within a specifically designated area of responsibility of the contract.
  • Monitor quality and performance levels in relation to pre-set standards, plans and objectives and initiate timely remedial action when appropriate.
  • Provide a weekly on call back up service, which is rostered between the Manager and other Supervisors.
You will also carry out maintenance activities on Rail Rolling Stock and associated equipment. You will investigate failures, diagnose faults and undertake rectification to prevent recurrence, report all maintenance faults and repairs in accordance withcompany and customers procedures and standards and ensure all maintenance activities comply with them. You will also operate the Switch and Crossing wagons when necessary, on Network Rail Infrastructure.You will need good leadership and communication skills and previous experience of supervising staff. You will also be a time-served maintenance technician with good electrical & mechanical maintenance skills. Experience of rolling stock maintenance and repairsis essential as is the ability to maintain, identify and source problems and to provide requisite repair. You will be working as part of a multi-discipline team and will need a comprehensive engineering & maintenance background with a working knowledge ofISO9002 & ISO14001 quality & environmental standards an advantage. A full UK Driving Licence is required as are good customer care skills.Any experience of working on the Network Rail infrastructure would be an advantage as would a PTS card but training will be given in these areas. You must be prepared to work in all weather conditions.The salary is £34000 + overtime with a good benefits package that includes 25 annual plus 8 bank holidays / sickness benefit/life assurance / auto-enrolment pension schemeThis is an exciting and varied role within the Rail sector.
