Job Description

Chemistry jobs, scientist jobs, pharma, pharma, research, medicinal chemistry, synthetic chemistry Your new company My client is looking for talented Medicinal/Synthetic Chemists to join their expanding team to work on a multitude of exciting projects based in their state-of-the-art facility in Nottingham. You will be joining an award-winning team and a company that invest heavily in the professional development of all chemists, with the aim of consolidating and expanding upon their existing skill sets. Your new role Your main responsibility will be to design synthetic routes and carry out the synthesis, purification and analysis of a range of chemical compounds. You will be able to quickly solve problems and present solutions to line management. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the team to create new methodologies, and provide a safe and productive environment for all employees to work in. Key Responsibilities

  • To design synthetic routes and carry out the synthesis, purification and analysis of a range of chemical compounds as specified from time to time by his/her Line Manager or Head of Operations, or Company Directors.
  • To problem solve and present solutions to line management.
  • To keep a laboratory notebook in a neat and tidy fashion.
  • To record and store key data in the online data store as directed by line management.
  • To familiarise yourself with appropriate computer-based software and search tools to enable literature searching and report writing as required.
  • To have contact with customers or clients and represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • To attend to any other incidental and general duties as specified from time to time by your Line Managers, which may include the upkeep and maintenance of the laboratories, buildings and equipment.
    • Qualifications
  • BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline (PhD highly desirable)
  • Experience of preparing and implementing COSHH safety assessments
  • Experience of undertaking research projects
  • Experience of using chemical structure and reaction search tools
  • Experience of running and interpreting NMR, IR and Mass spectrometry
