Job Description

Job Title: Portfolio / Programme Manager Function: Business Transformation Location: Nottingham Type: Permanent Salary: £57,000 - £76,000 per annum The NHS Supply Chain business has an ongoing ambitious transformation programme which is driven in large part, by the modernisation of much of the IT technology estate and implementation of new capabilities in the logistics network. Management, steering and coordination of all projects, programmes, portfolios and transformation activities is structured under a set of programmes and portfolios which, combined, form a single change plan across all aspects of NHS Supply Chain. As part of the continued growth of the Business Transformation function and the increasing number of projects and programmes underway, we are looking to appoint a Portfolio / Programme Manager. You will primarily be accountable for leading your particular programmeor portfolio, working closely with the nominated executive owner. You will enjoy high visibility across a £3bn turnover organisation, as you will work closely with the Executive, Senior Leadership and functional to understand key challenges, functional strategiesand opportunities, and use those insights to help shape the programme. What does a Portfolio / Programme Manager do at NHS Supply Chain

  • Delivers large transformational programmes and portfolios, which include multiple technology, process, and cultural changes for customers and colleagues, and ensure that the team are supporting the end users throughout the delivery of the change so thatthe implementation is successful, and outcomes are achieved
  • Leads the particular programme delivery team including both internal and external personnel and teams depending on specific projects being delivered
  • Responsible for defining and managing budgets of up to £8m required to scope and implement the long-term strategic plan
  • Manage the delivery of large-scale enterprise-wide projects and programmes that incorporate a proactive and innovative solution to addressing business challenges and achieving organisational goals and objectives
  • Pro-actively monitor the progress of projects and work-packages within the programme including surfacing capacity, pacing, or resourcing issues and initiating corrective actions as applicable
What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful
  • Proven industry experience of successfully managing large scale, complex programmes encompassing significant elements of technology
  • Extensive understanding of portfolio, programme and project management methodologies as per MSP / Prince 2 / Agile or equivalent standard
