Job Description

Expeditor, Material Controller, Master Planner, Master Scheduler, Planner, Progress Chaser, Engineering Planner, Precision Engineering, Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Automotive, Motorsport, Location: Nottingham, Position: Permanent, Salary: Circa £25,000 p.a depending on experiencePRODUCTION PLANNERREQUIRED - PERMANENT POSITION,NOTTINGHAMEMBS are working in Partnership with a leading precision engineering company based in Nottingham who believe it or not are going through some serious growth in these unprecedented times due to their diverse portfolio of clients and innovative business strategies.The client has built its reputation on their capabilities to be able to produce high value, complex machined components for some of the most lucrative companies world wide. Supplying into a number of precision engineering industries this business offers an opportunity to candidates with varied backgrounds, as long as they have worked in precision engineering.The purpose of the job will be to become the primary support and liaison for the companies key customers - new & existing, and as such supporting theProduction and Manufacturing departments.The successful candidatewill be required to keep track of parts as they go through the manufacturing process and help ensure that they are on track to customer commitment dates. You will also be in constant communication with the customer, keeping them up to date on the progress of their order. The Planner will be utilising the MRP / ERP system which has digitalised their process making this very easy and clear to understand / follow. However, the key element to this is using the information provided by the in-house MRP system to create priority lists and organise internal departments, ensuring that customers components are moved through the manufacturing process swiftly and efficiently, working towards the agreed planned schedule. This will require the Planner to have a firm grasp on where eachpart is within its manufacturing cycle and where necessary chase department heads for updates, identify potential issues and raise these internally in order to find a suitable solution.Essential duties:

  • Keep track of products that require special attention and ensure that they are flowing through the manufacturing process and report back to the morning meeting.
  • Ensure all customers are kept up to date regularly on their orders and take note of any amendments or alterations to orders or delivery dates
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, ensuring that sub con processes or external orders are on track as agreed
  • Ensure slow moving products do not get stagnant in one process by working closely with the departments and get them moving to the next process.
  • Working closely with all departments, helping to resolve any issues that may impact commitment dates by working collectively with your team and communicating internally as well as to the customer or supplier.
  • Assist in the planning of the work throughout the shopfloor and ensure workflow is correct
  • Assist production office with minor clerical duties.
  • Please note, internal training and support will be given to understand the in-house MRP system, however an understanding of how MRP systems work and are utilised within a manufacturing business is essential.Education, skills and/or experience required:
  • Similar experience background needed - Production Planning, Expediting, Progress Chasing, Scheduling
  • Previous engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communications skills and the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders
  • Excellentwritten communication skills
  • Must be able to adapt to frequently changing priorities
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrable proficiency in MS Excel and adept at using MS Word, Outlook and Power Point
  • Previous experience working with MRP / ERP systems
