Job Description

Penguin Recruitment is excited to be representing a national Planning and Development Consultancy who is looking to recruit a Planning Director to lead their Nottingham team. The company is part of a wider group that has offices across the UK and comprises Town Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Transport, and Highways Planning.The successful candidate will take on board a lead management role for the office with responsibility for growing the East Midlands regions business presence as well as contributing to growth throughout the Midlands in tandem with other offices. The successful candidate will also have a role on the main Board of the Practice under the direction of the Managing Director.The Practices client base and workload is very varied and covers most aspects of the planning system and varying scales of project, including development promotion, development plan and development control advice, planning appeals, planning and site assessments and research projects.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for developing the Nottingham office client base;
  2. Managing the workloads and professional development of the planning staff;
  3. Client billing and managing an office budget.
The successful candidate will be able to manage competing demands on their time and prioritise tasks accordingly for themselves and others. You will have a flexible and positive attitude, be self-motivated, and able to lead a team. You should also be self-assured and able to develop good working relationships with clients.In order to apply, you should be RTPI or RICS qualified and have 7-10 years of private sector experience. You should have experience in managing a professional team(s) and able to provide leadership and vision.
