Job Title: PhysiotherapistGrade: Band 6Trust: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS TrustLocation: Queen’s Medical Centre, NG7 2UHHours: Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00Pay rate: From £19.10Are you an experienced physiotherapist Do you have evidence-based experience and are looking for flexible working opportunities NUH is currently providing these opportunities through an exciting placement opportunity at Queen’s Medical Centre location.Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH)is one of Englands largest acute teaching trusts. They provide acute and specialist services to 2.5m people within Nottingham and surrounding communities at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC)and the City Hospital campuses, as well as specialist services for a further 3 - 4m people from across the region. NUH is the 4th fourth largest in the UK.The Trust is delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join their Team. The post holder will work within an acute inpatient setting and effectively use manual therapy skills.To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience within an acute inpatient setting
  • Be able to communicate complex information effectively
Role Details:
  • To have responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Indirect supervision takes the form of clinical reasoning sessions, peer review. Access to adviceand support from a Senior Physiotherapist is available.
  • To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations / multi pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of patient conditione.g. critical care patients.
  • Formulate and deliver an individual and group physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills e.g.: manual physiotherapytechniques/facilitation of normal movement, patient education and the use of adjuncts
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition. Communication skills of persuasion and motivation are required. Clear explanation is needed to encourage the patients to undertaketheir treatment programme.
  • To use communication tools (verbal and non verbal) to gain valid consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain, fears.
  • Evaluate patient progress, reassess treatment programmes as required. Work within Trust clinical guidelines, CSP guidelines and have a good working knowledge of national and local standards. Monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for maintaining contemporaneous, accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with local and national standards of practice.
  • Represent physiotherapy service and/or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings, to ensure the delivery of service. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning on.

About the Trust:NUH was established in 2006 following the merger of Nottingham City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC).
