Job Description

Title: Operations / Academy ManagerLocation: Nottingham (more office based) Salary: circa £35,000 - £40,000 doeStart Date: Mid-late November 2020Rewind 5-10 years, and the FE & Skills market was almost completely monopolised by the big national training providers and colleges groups; Learndirect, NCG, Hull College Group, First4Skills, PeoplePlus. Now look where we are today, yes you have your primes who still control most of the funding, but you have a vast array of smaller localised or niche training providers across the country. These are forcing competition in the market, bringing in new ideas to the market and pushing for better delivery across the market. In my mind this is a positive thing as it encourages new ways of working, and brings innovation into the market. This opportunity is working for one of those training providers. A smaller provider based out of Nottingham, still in start up/early mode, they will be coming up to 2 years old in early 2021. Who wants to disrupt certain parts of the market, push for new innovative ways of learning, and make a prominent name for themselves. This is your chance to get in early, and be a part of their plans.Make note, this role will not be for everyone. There is often this fairy tale perception of joining a start up but many are then surprised when they have to get their hands dirty. So to clarify a few points, they are still in early stages of operations. There is limited infrastructure in place, limited processes/procedures, a small team (but set to grow), and all of this will fall on to your shoulder to set up, implement and improve. Ultimately this will be very hands on in the early days, including stepping in to deliver training if need be (training/assessing qual needed for this)So if I havent turned you off just yet, then thats a good sign and we should continue.Working directly with the CEO, you are going to be the most senior person in the business next to him at this stage. Currently the business focuses on Traineeships (NEETS), but has just been approved on to RoAPT, and approved AEB funding. You will be looking into the growth of all 3, with Apprenticeships & AEB being the key focus.Professional services and IT/Digital are the target markets for both, Ill go into more detail when we speak on these. If you havent guessed already, you are going to have to have current and up to date experience of everything FE. Ideally across all 3 funding provisions as mentioned above, but Apprenticeships probably the most essential.Youll also be able to work in Nottingham, as this will mainly be more office based for the foreseeable. So, experienced across the board of FE & Skills Operationally competent to manage, implement and grow new provisions Happy to get stuck in and get hands dirtyLets speak.
