Job Title: Occupational therapistGrade:Band 7Trust: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS TrustLocation: Queen’s Medical Centre, NG7 2UHHours: Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00Pay rate: From £26.70Are you an experienced occupational therapist Do you have evidence-based experience and are looking for flexible working opportunities NUH is currently providing these opportunities through an exciting placement opportunity at Queen’s Medical Centre location. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH)is one of Englands largest acute teaching trusts. They provide acute and specialist services to 2.5m people within Nottingham and surrounding communities at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) andthe City Hospital campuses, as well as specialist services for a further 3 - 4m people from across the region. NUH is the 4th fourth largest in the UK.The Trust is delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join their Team. The post holder will work within an acute inpatient setting for older people and effectively use a range of written andverbal and non-verbal communication skills with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes.To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree in Occupational therapy or equivalent
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience within an acute inpatient setting
  • Experience with the care of older people
  • Ability to cope with the pressure and demands of a busy ward including rapid decision making & discharge planning
Role Details:
  • Provides an effective highly specialist service in an acute in patient setting of the care of older people
  • You will be an expert clinical advisor and leader within the HCOP therapy services at NUH. This will include providing education and training, liaising across the specialty teams, with Therapy colleagues and with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • Undertake evidence based highly comprehensive assessment and treatment of patients including those with complex presentation, including conflicting social and psychological information, using investigative and analytical skills having a flexible approachto the delivery of care.
  • Develop evidenced based holistic treatment plans for individuals with complex needs in given clinical area enabling individuals, carers and families to contribute to the plan.
  • Establish effective working relationships with patients, families and carers providing information and advice at appropriate stages of the patient pathway. Communicating complex condition related information to patients / carers and relatives within scopeof professional practice accounting for potential barriers to communication.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of a coordinated multidisciplinary service exploring complex and sensitive issues related to treatment options and decisions.
  • Proactively advocate for patients with complex needs.
  • Proactively work with patients promoting self-management enabling them to recognise and maximise their potential outcomes. Empowering them to make choices about their future management.
