Job Description

Lead Cloud Platform EngineerPermanentNottingham (Remote)My client are currently urgently seeking a highly motivated and passionate Lead Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS), to define the scope and oversee E2E development of large-scale and complex cloud environments across the financial sector, catalysing change through providing dynamic application and tool solutions to customers.As an organisation they are at forefront of providing market data, insights and infrastructure across the capital markets and finance sectors to over 40,000 clients globally.   • Providing leadership and direction to a virtual team to deliver business unit priority work
  • Participating and helping to run SCRUM session with local team
  • You will take lead on the development and build of complex cloud services, working in collaboration with product development groups to build cloud aware applications.
  • Operate as part of a larger SRE team to provide operations support across AWS accounts
  • Developing automated processes to prevent, identify, and fix problems that impact service availability
  • Developing, document, and operate toolkits for the provisioning and managing of cloud infrastructure
  • Communicating effectively and professionally with internal customers, management, and other Enterprise Cloud teams dispersed across the globe
  • Collaborating with cloud architecture and product engineering teams to translate high level technical requirements and in turn define infrastructure changes
  • Participating in meetings with internal cloud stakeholders/customers and effectively negotiate expectations
    • Essential Skills Required:
  • Substantial related technology experience (AWS)
  • Experienced in leading cross functional teams
  • Experienced in writing clean code (Python & Boto3 preferable)
  • Experienced with IaC / Terraform
  • Experienced in automating software build, deployment, and server configuration management using tools such as Jenkins, Git, & Terraform
  • Knowledge & Experience of modern agile development methodologies
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and automation of software testing, delivery and infrastructure changes
  • Strong passion for technology, a willingness to learn new skills and the ability to evangelize the uses of cloud services
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, ability to translate technical direction into functional solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team, managing multiple priorities while collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to investigate complex issues spanning multiple technologies and drive to completion
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
    • Desired Skills
  • Extensive business/managerial knowledge of a specific sub-function, BU or technical discipline (Financial Services Preferable)
  • Experienced in writing clean code in other Object Orientated languages (Python)
  • Experience in developing IaaS development toolkits
  • Experience in working as part of an existing Site Reliability Engineering team
  • Experience with any public or private cloud technologies/services, particularly federation and STS services, IAM policies, Lambda and step functions, Bastion services, and others.
  • Expertise in Windows and Linux system administration, databases (relational and NoSQL), and networking infrastructure and services (routing, switching, DNS, NTP)
  • A degree or equivalent related work experience.
