Job Description

Laboratory Support AssistantNottinghamDue to expected growth, our client is searching for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join a high performing team working on the development and manufacture ofin vitrodiagnostic devices in the fields of oncology and infectious diseases (COVID-19). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about conducting laboratory tasks to the highest standards in a fast-paced environment. This post will support the workflow of critical projects and have an immediate impact in a fast-growing company.ResponsibilitiesGeneral laboratory related responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and cleaning of laboratories and laboratory equipment
  • Assistance with external engineer visits
  • Maintenance of laboratory reagents and consumables
  • Maintenance of storage and stock levels
  • Receiving incoming goods
  • Sterilisation of reagents and waste by autoclave
  • Providing support to the laboratory manager
  • Administrative duties:
  • Ordering of laboratory reagents and consumables
  • Following standard operating procedures
  • Keeping meticulous records of all procedures performed
  • Following regulatory requirements of ISO 13485:2016
  • Experience & skillsEssential
  • Minimum GCSE in maths and English (or equivalent) and a minimum of one year work experience in a relevant medical, technical or scientific role.
  • Ability to work autonomously on routine daily tasks
  • Good IT skills and use of basic functions of all Microsoft applications
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to interpret ideas and instructions to/from colleagues and partners
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe conduct within a laboratory environment
  • Desirable
  • Working knowledge of GLP and ISO 13485
  • Experience in the use of general laboratory equipment, such as pipettes, balances, pH meters, autoclaves, and glass washers
  • A full induction and training will be given to perform the role.Salary from £17,000 per annum depending on age and experience.
