Job Description

SUMMARY: To assist with the maintenance, development and management of the computer hardware and software used by the Company, particularly the UNIX systems which provide a platform for NODES.RESPONSIBILITIES:Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • To be jointly responsible for the maintenance of computer network connectivity (hardware and software) reconfiguring as required to meet the evolving needs of the Company.
  • To be jointly responsible for hardware maintenance.
  • To be jointly responsible for System software maintenance for both UNIX and Windows. To install and maintain commercial application packages for data management, word processing, statistical analysis, accounting and desktop publishing. To author in-house software for general and system admin purposes.
  • To undertake the backup of systems as required.
  • To be jointly responsible for monitoring and maintaining system security.
  • To source, purchase and install appropriate computer equipment as directed by the DSD.
  • To assist with the development of web-based solutions.
  • To help develop and maintain the Company SOPs for I.T. systems.
  • To assist in the training of new staff, if required to do so.
  • To assist in the operation of the IVRS.
  • To assist in the management of user accounts.
  • To provide I.T. helpdesk facilities and I.T. support to users.

  • Be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate a methodical and logical approach to problem solving and the ability to learn new tasks quickly.
  • Be hardworking and efficient.
  • Possess good team working skills.
    • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or with equivalent on-job experience.
  • A sound working knowledge of UNIX system administration.
