Job Description

Role: IT Support TechnicianSalary: £25,000 - £30,000Location: NottinghamType: PermanentOverview2Fawcett are recruiting for an IT Technician, to join a company located in Nottingham on a permanent basis. You will be a part of a small but busy ICT department where primarily you will be required to provide daily BAU support to the 150 IT users based in the UK. In addition, you will also administer and provide 1st and 2nd line support and solutions, complete daily check-list tasks as well as be involved in upcoming systems development and implementations across a variety of technologies and platforms.The Role & Responsibilities of the IT Support Technician IT support requirements vary day-to-day and includes; resolving simple mobile phone only issues, to PC/laptop hardware upgrades/replacements, setting up printers, installing and configuring business applications software such as VPN/ SAP/MSOffice etc, configuring new starter profiles in AD, Avaya, O365/Exchange as well as carrying out daily IT checks and tasks such as changing of back-up tapes.Key output/deliverables· Support and maintenance of the user desktop environment including the scheduled upgrade and replacement of PC/Laptops· Ensure office and remote-working IT users across the business have uninterrupted access to all IT services, such as VPN, e-mail, printing, MS Office, etc· Management of smartphones and tablets through MDM systems (MaaS360) including updating user database with mobile provider· Management of fixed line telephones and ensure accuracy of internal phones database and voicemail systems· Maintain asset register of all IT hardware· Provide efficient and timely BAU support to the business and your IT colleagues· Liaise with external suppliers for the procurement of IT equipment within budgets· Support iPad based applications used by field-based sales rep· Monitor and ensure continuity of server based core business applications and services· Develop and maintain new corporate Intranet site in conjunction with 3rd party vendors· Be involved in cross-departmental projects to expand your knowledge of the business and make IT systems recommendationsPrincipal responsibilities

  • Manage and provide Windows desktop/laptop support to office and field based employees at UK sites to agreed SLA’s, including hardware fixes and software installations/upgrades
  • To assist in current deployed technologies requiring support/development such as;
  • PCs, laptops, iPads, RFID and other wireless technologies
  • Routers and switches and networking principles
  • Microsoft Windows domain and application servers, e.g. File, Exchange, O365, MS Office suite
  • AD / DHCP / DNS / VPN
  • Education and experience
  • Attained 2:1 or above in an IT based degree
  • Ideally gained Microsoft certification
  • A minimum of 24 months industry-based IT incident response experience
  • Some experience of website development would be advantageous
  • Key competencies
  • Sound understating of PC/laptop hardware technologies
  • MS Office and Windows based applications and installations
  • Be extremely numerate, accurate and have a good eye for detail
  • An open, participative and collaborative style.
  • Ability to comfortably and patiently explain technical issues in everyday language to colleagues in other functions
