Infrastructure Team Leader | Manufacturing Organisation | Nottingham | £40,000 - £42,000“I’ve reached a point in my career now where if I want to continue to progress I’ll have to move into a hands-off, non-technical role…and what’s the point in that when I love being hands on”If this is you, keep reading…This manufacturing company are going through a period of transformation, so naturally are reviewing all their solutions and processes to ensure they are fit for purpose. You will be part of a small team of IT leaders in the business whose ideas are actually shaping the way IT performs in this organisation, as and when those reviews take place. You’ll be a true problem solver & a great communicator. You’ll be used to dealing with internal & external stakeholders and be able to speak techie to non-techies, whilst being down to earth, open & honest when it comes to your day-to-day interactions with the team. You’ll be an accomplished, ITIL certified Infrastructure Engineer, used to dealing with 3rd parties and vendors, negotiating service level agreements and raising performance issues. Importantly you’ll have worked in a manufacturing environment before so problem solving in real time (so that production isn’t compromised!) will be second nature to you. This is a large company with lots of moving parts, so you’ll get to travel to other sites within the UK (and possibly Europe) as and when it’s needed. Due to the nature of your work this is a role that can only be performed on-site so you’ll need to live in or within commuting distance of Nottingham in order to travel to site every day. There’s also an on-call rota that you’ll be part of 1 week out of 5, and of course you’ll receive extra ££ for that aspect of your role.On a day to day basis you’ll be responsible for managing the infrastructure team, managing calls & incidents, monitoring the LAN/WAN/WLAN & server storage environments, identifying & owning any service improvement projects, and will take responsibility for defining & managing the infrastructure roadmap for the business. From a tech perspective it’s VMware, Windows Servers (2003 – 2016), Windows 7 & 10, SQL, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, DFS, KACE, Office 365, Veeam Back & Replication, Netbackup, WSUS, McAfee, Palo ALTO, WAN, LAN, WLAN (Aruba/Comware/Procurve) and HP Storevirtual, EMC, HP StorEver and QNAP.But in my opinion the most exciting thing about this role is the development opportunities that are on offer. There are some big projects on the horizon - such as supporting the wider business as they move to O365, and a new data centre being set up which you’ll lead on & project manage. There are also several sites that you’ll look after, all with different systems & ways of working. If you want to progress quickly you’ll be encouraged to put your hand up for extra projects, and backed and supported by your manager to ensure you are equipped with the skills to complete those projects. There are lots of people for you to learn from in this role too, so if you want to specialise in a specific type of tech, or become a process owner for something you’re passionate about – you can!The culture here is fantastic, they are a collaborative, supportive, fun, friendly bunch, who help one another out & even socialise in their spare time (well, not lately, but that’s not exactly their fault!)It’s a fairly lean management structure so if you work. hard & are proactive and driven, you will certainly beDistinct Recruitment Privacy Policy
