Job Description

Robert Half have partnered exclusively with an established entertainment/media retailer based in the Nottingham area to recruit an Infrastructure Systems Administrator on a permanent basis.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of network LAN/WAN infrastructure, both in the cloud and on-premises.
  • Participates in systems design and planning activities.
  • Monitors system resource utilization to project capacity requirements.
  • Recommends enhancements to meet current and future system demands.
  • Manages the configuration, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, and Office Automation equipment.
  • Works within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Benchmarks, analyzes, reports, and offers recommendations for improving all IT infrastructures and systems.
  • Consults with vendors, IT staff, and end users to provide timely problem resolution.
  • Manages the financial aspects of IT projects, including purchasing and budgeting.
  • Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Implements and ensures compliance to all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provisions.
  • Leads and participates in local, regional, and global project teams.
  • Manages asset management for all IT hardware and software.
  • Be available for after-hours work as needed.
  • Identify and mitigate cyber security risks to network and data center infrastructure locally and globally, in partnership with global IT team members.
  • Identify, propose, design, and deliver solutions that enable optimal user experience of network and data center capabilities to improve work efficiency, which can include leveraging cloud infrastructure services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in project management, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms, SaaS solutions, migration, and management, Amazon AWS preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems administration, with a proven history of managing complex operating systems and environments.
  • Network Administration knowledge of network protocols, services, and configurations, along with experience in firewall management and network troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including experience with intrusion detection, firewalls, antivirus software, patch, and vulnerability management.
  • Knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies, data backup, disaster recovery planning, and data retention policies.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and proactive issue resolution to maintain system uptime.
  • Database Administration experience (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL query language.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Server operating systems (e.g., Server 2016, 2019, and 2022).
  • Strong experience within a Directory Service stack. (Active Directory, WINS, LDAP, DNS, GPO, AD Federation, SAML, ADFS, Multi Factor, Azure AD connect.
  • Proficiency in deploying and managing collaboration and productivity tools such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, SharePoint, or similar.
  • Familiarity in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automating system tasks and management is a plus.
  • Practical experience working with virtualization products, notably VMWare & Hyper-V.
  • Must be able to travel to remote sites as may be required in support of operations.
Salary/logistics:
  • Circa £45,000 dependent on experience
  • This role is primarily to be based on site as standard
