Job Description

The challengeRH Commercial Vehicles have over 40 years’ experience in the commercial vehicle market. As part of the Renault and Isuzu Trucks network we operate from five sites in the East Midlands. We are a large team of proud professionals who are dedicated to delivering a fast and dedicated service that customers can depend on.As a Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing robust systems and processes for effective health and safety across the group. Your main duties will include risk assessments, SSOW, Training, Driver Assessments, Accident Investigations, Fire evacuation, First Aid, and other relevant areas to ensure we are legally compliant. In addition there will be an element of facilities management, including but not limited to; arranging PAT testing, Fixed Wire Testing and service and maintenance contracts across the 5 sites, and responding to service and maintenance requests for some properties that we lease to tenants. This role will be based at our Nottingham site, but will be regularly visiting the 4 other sites in our network.To succeed, you will need:

  • NEBOSH qualification/s - or equivalent standard
  • A thorough understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and how it applies to our industry
  • Experience of championing compliance with health and safety standards and legal regulations to develop a culture of safe working practices across the organisation.
  • Flexibility, being able to prioritise your own workload and support the team during busier periods. Remaining calm under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • To be an excellent communicator with good listening skills and the ability to determine the core issue and prioritise responses appropriately.
  • The ability and motivation to work on your own initiative and operate with colleagues across multiple sites.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to take on new skills and adopt new approaches
  • Full Driving Licence
  • You’ll really hit the ground running if you have:
  • Experience in the motor trade industry especially commercial vehicles
  • First Aid or Fire Marshall Training
  • Class 2 licence
  • Driver Trainer experience
  • Once the job is yours, you will be expected to:
  • Assist the organisation in providing a safe environment for staff and customers’; achieving compliance with its statutory duties under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Carry out periodic safety audits of activities/functions and provide analyses of health and safety, ensuring accurate record keeping and management of data and information to support the function.
  • Keep up to date with external developments in the area of health and safety and promote best practice. Maintain up to date knowledge of new or impending legislation and any other mandatory instructions relating to area of work.
  • Develop annual action plans relevant to area of work and be responsible for implementation within defined timescales.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and instruction to directors, managers, and staff on all aspects of effective health and safety management issues. Assist them to systematically identify hazards, assess and minimise risk and develop strategies to achieve high safety standards.
