Green-Tech Engineering Manager - Online PaymentsSalary: £80,000 - £100,000 + stock Location: Fully remote, must be UK basedIf you love making architectural decisions, enabling growth and excellence in a dev team and defining technical roadmaps when it comes to delivering brilliant software AND ALSO want to tackle the climate crisis, this is a role to consider. You likely forged your career as a Ruby on Rails or front-end developer having used React more recently, but have become increasingly passionate about helping others to grow and enhance their skills. And of course, you know whats what when it comes to open-source software and architecture. So what problem are you going to solveWe are a wasteful world. From energy through to water and food. We know that in order to build a more sustainable future we need to get better and using less, sharing more and finding ways to stop prioritising profit over efficiency.Imagine working for a company that is actively looking to change how the world works, making it easy for us to turn from wasteful consumers of excess to community-based action heroes who are actively helping to build a more sustainable future through the useof their technologyNot only that, but their app helps some of the most vulnerable people in society, at a time when so many people need support with few places to turn. However, this isnt a charity or a wooly CSR project, its a bona fide, newsworthy and serious investor-backed business. Their app and web platform now have over 5 million users and 60,000+ volunteers. Thats 5 million people doing their bit to remove wastefrom the equation, all with a few clicks on their phone!Businesses now account for two thirds of their transactions and theres a lot of areas for growth as more organisations and businesses sign up. Countless numbers of charities also benefit from their work too.Data can inform improvements and is playing an increasingly valuable role in solving the puzzle. Its a growing element of their services and decision making. This individual will build and lead a whole new "online payments" team of around 10 people including a lead developer and a couple of seniors. So, experience delivering payments systems would really stand out.Their tech centres around Ruby on Rails and React (Native) and they use things like AWS with S3, ECR, ELB, Cloudwatch and also use Docker, Travis CI for their CICD, lots of google maps integration and Redis, among other things. So any experience with thoseor similar tools will enable you to settle in quickly.Youll work closely with stakeholders such as product managers, the data team, design and user researchers, particularly early on as you understand how best to prioritise building new systems.Fancy building something that could get rid of food waste for goodTheres plenty more to talk about, so send over your CV.Lets have a chat!
